Carnaval is arriving

It’s been a while since I wrote here, but finally I found some time now to do so.
The city Rio de Janeiro is probably called so, because the month january is one the best time to be in this lovely city. There are several shows here during this time and everyone is already excited about carnaval. It’s a certain kind of tension that’s lies in the air.
If I will find some time during the next days I’ll upload some pictures…

April in September

If you don’t know what to talk about, just talk about the weather ;-) It was like April today, whenever I wanted to do some of the items on my todo list, it started to rain :’-(
Then I listened to Jorge Ben Jor’s track ‘Chove Chuva’ and discovered a nice pandeiro technique for quiet pieces. Just out of curiosity I recorded a video with my MacBook. It’s so damn easy. See the result here.

I finally found some time to update my website. I several links and added NonameEQ and Rubberfilter to my plugin list. Other than that I updated the general design of the site a bit.

AES convention 2007 in Vienna

Yesterday night I returned from the AES convention 2007 in Vienna. It’s been the second time for me to join a convention and – as last year – I really enjoyed it. There I met old and new friends. It was a real pleasure for me to talk about their and my projects.

This year I was presenting my VST Plugin Analyser at the Student Science spot. To my suprise there were several people interested in what I did. It seems that everyone I presented my work was very impressed, although I’d wished to present it to a larger audience.

Today I managed to upload the latest version of the VST analyser. It features an improved SVG export and a new CSV export of RAW data. Furthermore it is based on the latest Audio Chart component which allows additional hermite and sinc interpolation rather than the boring linear interpolation. Furthermore the stability was improved and I added a kind of crash detection to avoid deletion of the INI-file everytime the analyser crashes.

I also decided to make the link password protected. So if you want the latest version you need to send a mail to me. This is because there was some abuse of the software.

Furthermore I decided to stop the development for a commercial version. The next step is to add some of the PRO features to the latest freeware version. Not sure how it developes. However I think I will write some articles with the freeware now to see, what is still missing…

Back to normal

Hello everyone,

I think I’m back to normal now. During the last month I was kind of addicted to a silly game and I had trouble to focus on any other things. After I quit on sunday I do now have a lot more time for other important things. Yesterday I for example I got ASIO to work from within Lazarus and I’m now looking forward to get the rest of my open source project working in that environment.

I finally consegei participar dum show do Monobloco. Very bacana and very hot! Depois some musica funky and a band from the northeast, Monobloco played until 4 o’clock in the morning. What a night!

O fusca ofusca todos os outros carros

It’s been a while since I posted to my blog. It’s because I’ve been really busy these days. Nevertheless here’s a post I started about 3 weeks ago:

The good colega Zemar convindamos (me and Martin, the outro estudante) to join him on his trip to his hometown “Juiz de fora”. Martin already went there on thursday, because we had mais um feriado prolongado, while I was working these days. The decision wasn’t too bad, because it was raining a lot.

Finally, when I arrived, the weather changed so that we had a lovely day in “Juiz de fora”. Zemar showed us the city while driving with his fusca (= Beetle = Käfer). The origin of this name is very interesting because here in brasil they used to say Volkscar. With a little bit of brasilian slang this transformed to Fus-ca.

With this vehicle we drove back on sunday to Petropolis, where Zemar lives. It was a very nice short trip for us. And finally I have to say once a gain that the brazilian people are marvelous in regards of hospitality.

Praia de Botafogo 484

No dia 7 de novembro I moved to my new apartamento na praia de botafogo. Lá tem uma boa vista pra ver o corcovado. You can see what I see on the picture below. The apartamento is quite huge compared to the one I had last year. It has up to 6 rooms (including bathroom and kitchen) and nice furniture (inclúido AC, TV & DVD). A semana passada eu ficei quase todo dia em casa para ser mais diligente!

Andando bicicleta em Xerem

Dois semanas atras eu fui andando bicicleta em Xerém mais uma vez. Este vez eu fui com Martin o outro estudante. Teve muito calor neste dia. Mas no fim de caminho tem um pequeno cachoeira maravilhosa. Muito legal!

We took the picture below on our way back. Unfortunatly at the same time Martins pneu estourou. Felizmente an LKW came along. The driver took Martin and his bike onto the payload bay and drove back to Xerém. Just one of the countless other adventures here in this lovely country…
